1. Q: Why should I drink tap water instead of bottled water?

A: To save money! Why spend endless amount of money on something you can get for free? A bottle of water at the canteen costs 2 CHF. Assuming that you buy one bottle per week, you will spend approximately 100 CHF per year. Tap water is free and just as clean and healthy as bottled water.

2. Q: How do I know whether my tap water is safe?

A: SVGW/SSIGE, the Swiss Society of gas and water industry, commits to safe gas and tap water supply. The quality of tap water in Switzerland is excellent and regularly controlled. You can check out the quality of water of your city on their website: http://www.qualitadellacqua.ch or download the app on: www.svgw.ch/App

3. Q: Is it healthy to reuse disposable plastic bottles?

A: PET plastic bottles should not be reused. They cannot be properly cleaned, and over time some chemicals contained in the plastic may leach into the water.

4. Q: What kind of re-usable bottle can I use to drink tap water?

A: Because PET bottles may leach plastic components into the water, they are not safe to reuse. Therefore we recommend re-using borosilicate glass, stainless steel, aluminum, or tritan bottles.

5. Q: Where can I purchase the TAP bottle?

A: The TAP bottles are availble online on USI shop; they are displayed at the student advisory (USI shop) on the third floor of the main building.

6. Q: How much does a TAP bottle cost?

A: The TAP bottles have a special price of 18 CHF– for USI students and staff.
